Why omega-3 fats can calm inflammation

A plain-language look at research showing EPA and DHA can lower common inflammation markers in the blood.

When your body stays inflamed, you may feel tired, sore, or foggy. Omega‑3 fats from fish — called EPA and DHA — help your body turn that “on” signal down.

What the research found

An umbrella review of many meta-analyses found that omega‑3 supplements lowered three common blood markers of inflammation:

  • CRP (C-reactive protein)
  • TNF-α
  • IL-6

In simple terms: more calming fats, less “fire” in the blood for many adults who were studied.

What this means for you

You do not need to be perfect. Adding fatty fish a few times a week — or asking your clinician about omega‑3 — can be a gentle step toward feeling better.

GoodFat helps you notice when meals lean toward those calming fats, so progress is easier to see.
